Background:
James is a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and has worked extensively on a national scale within the public sector, as a planning consultant and as an in-house developer, providing him with a privileged insight into how the planning process works from all perspectives.
With a specialism in energy and infrastructure, he has worked on a variety of energy developments including wind, solar, waste to energy, gas-fuelled backup plants, battery storage and electric vehicle charge points. He has delivered consents for well in excess of 600 Megawatts of new power generation across solar farms and gas-fuelled backup plants.
James began his career as a town planner in 2002, delivering hundreds of permissions for telecoms infrastructure projects for various network operators. He has also worked in different local authorities in the South West of England, preparing long term development plans and providing advice on major applications and regeneration projects.
As a planning consultant, James has worked on everything from single-dwelling residential schemes up to large strategic housing site promotions, commercial, leisure and mixed-use developments. He has also dealt with diverse issues including flooding, heritage, Green Belt, ecology, highways, noise and air-quality.
