Background:
Keith has over 30 years of professional planning experience as a chartered planner and chartered surveyor in all parts of the United Kingdom as well as in the Isle of Man and Ireland.
Having started his career in planning authorities in the north east of England, he then moved on to join consultancies in Birmingham and Scotland. His experience encompasses a very wide range of commercial, leisure, retail, tourism, business, transport, minerals and residential developments. This includes diverse projects ranging from small-scale extensions, advertisement consents and discharge of conditions through to major developments including retail park development, major distribution warehouses, urban extensions and new motorway and light rapid transport schemes.
Keith’s skills include environmental assessment, retail, leisure and economic impact assessments, planning law (in England, Scotland and the IOM), research into planning practice and managing multiple specialist consultants for major planning applications and developments. As well submitting a plethora of planning applications Keith has been involved in numerous planning appeals both acting as an expert witness and also in the advocacy role presenting cases at public inquiries and hearings. His clients include landowners, developers, retail and leisure operators, planning authorities and central government.
