Highways Advice for Successful Retrospective Planning Application

FullerLong Highways Consultants assisted our client with the highways aspects of their retrospective planning application for the retention of a barn on their property for use in connection with a family run business.

The client had been advised by the Council that they felt the use was detrimental to highway safety and that before their application could be determined a Transport Statement would be needed. They were also advised that they would need to demonstrate the access was safe and would need both a traffic survey and topographic survey to do this.

Our highways specialist was able to review the situation and prepare a detailed letter to the Council setting out why none of the information requested was required and was able to demonstrate that the continued use of the barn would not be detrimental to highway safety.

The Council accepted the information that we presented to them and our client has successfully obtained planning permission whilst avoiding both the high costs and time delays that would have been inevitable if they had simply followed the Council’s original requirements.
